Parish and School cooperative activities:
The school and St. Francis of Assisi Parish work closely together. Regular
school masses, school council meetings with masses, and various school/community/parish projects such as the Food Bank are an example of cooperative activities.
Missionary, social justice or community outreach projects:
Individual classrooms participate in the Holy Childhood Mission. We are
developing links with Yamasa in the Dominican Republic. We hope to be twinned with a school in that area.
Sacramental Preparation:
Our Grade 2 students prepare for the sacraments of
First Reconciliation and First Communion and our Grade 6 students make their Confirmation.
Prayer centres and activities:
Prayer centres are common to every classroom. When parents enter
the front door of Rivercrest, they are welcomed by a prayer centre in the front hall. Each day is begun with morning prayer on the P.A. system and prayer is an integral part of classroom life.
Support of Church initiatives:
The spirit of cooperation between our school, the Parish Council and
clergy of St. Francis of Assisi is excellent.
