Message From The Principal:

Welcome to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. It is our wish that your years at
'St. Francis of Assisi Catholic' be stimulating and enjoyable as students and as parents.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School is a Catholic School. As such, we attempt to provide
and to foster an environment which will encourage the development of each student as a person who can relate to Christ by living and growing in the Christian faith. We wish to promote Christian fellowship in our school community and to assist the parents in achieving the goals they set for their children. We endeavour to provide our students with a vital example of life according to Catholic principles and to be a catalyst of Christian formation in our pupils.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School adheres to the philosophy outlined by the Ministry of Education:

The primary and junior divisions are intended to reflect child-centered and individualized
learning; the intermediate division adheres to the Ministry's intermediate guidelines. The active learning approach is emphasized and students and parents are looked upon as partners in the process of education.

THE MAJOR PURPOSE OF A SCHOOL IS TO HELP:

Each student develop her/his potential as an individual and as a contributing
responsible member of society who will think clearly, feel deeply and act wisely.

The Ontario Curriculum Grades 1-8 outlines changes in the curriculum of all Ontario Schools. The major aims are:

COURSE CONTENT

We view curriculum as everything that occurs at school for which the school
is responsible. The actual content of the courses taught is in keeping with the Ministry and our school board curriculm documents.

You will have an opportunity to meet with your child's teacher(s) early in
the school year to discuss course content in specific subjects.

All facets of the curriculum are aimed at developing the children to their
fullest potential spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically.

A vital part of this development is the awareness on the part of the child
that there exists between home and school a bond which clearly says we support each other. We know that a supportive environment is the best atmosphere in which such an important development can occur.

The school office motto is;
'GOOD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN WE TALK'

Sincerely,
H. Bruce Munro, Principal
